Noah getting down at Target
“Let’s roll people, I’ve got a beach to get to!”
Vacation suits her just fine!
Up for over two hours with Natalie last night from 2-4:30 am. She had a bad dream, her belly hurt, she was hungry, she was still hungry, her toes hurt, and the absolute worst? She didn’t want dinosaurs in her bed.
So tired. Ach.
On Monday, I took both kids to the doctor to get Noah’s 103 degree fever checked out. They have an awesome, normally pristine fish tank separating well waiting from sick waiting. While hanging out, we noticed a very very dead Cory catfish in the tank. Very dead. Like, partially consumed by his tank mates.
A few minutes later, another mom with a preschooler and a toddler walked in. The preschooler noticed the tank and asked his mom why the fish was just lying on the bottom. She looked at the tank, horrified, and fibbed that the fish was supposed to be like that.
In the corner, Natalie piped up: “no, he is dead and his friends are EATING him!”
Right then our name was called so I jetted out of that waiting room as fast as we could!
We had the best mother’s day. The best. Nobody was ever clean or in possession of a camera (or really, any form of technology). Instead, we played and worked outside and made giant messes - the whole day. Everything is planted except a few last flowers we started inside a few months ago, but those should pop in pretty easily this week. Tomatoes, carrots, dahlias, peppers, pole beans, sweet peas, marigolds, stock, astilbe, sunflowers, zinnias… All in. Tyler spent the day decimating the walkway between our back patio and our driveway, with plans firmly in place to finish the project post-haste. The kids spent the day helping with my yard work, playing in the sandbox, and playing soccer. Lunch and dinner were had outside - and, as Natalie put it, we plan to eat every meal possible outside this year. We took not one picture. Our big outings were: home depot (twice). Lowes. English gardens. Plum market. Garden stores and sustenance - the minimums, and we were all so happy. I love that our kids don’t need anything special to have a good day… Just hanging around is good for them, and for us! So pleased tonight with our little family.
Happy 2nd birthday, darling one!
Go fish!
Getting ready for summer and the inevitable bees in our garden
The choir. Noah started singing along to Taylor Swift today so we had to catch it on video! And yes - we are totally aware that the words are not altogether kid-friendly, but… What are you gonna do! :-)
